Welcome to Planet Health – the nutrition podcast and website all about healthy living habits from around the world!
If you want to make positive changes and maintain a healthy weight, then you have landed in the right place.
On this website, I explore the world of nutrition, fitness and wellbeing and see what our global cousins are doing to stay lean, fit, and healthy.
I then digest them and help you implement these habits into your life.
Firstly… who are you?

Why should you listen to me?
Good question!
I’m Chris Carra – a fitness writer, nutrition coach and something of a global explorer!
I’m basically the Michael Palin of health…
(Or just think of your favourite travel documentary presenter. I’m them… but for health, fitness and wellbeing).
As well as a health and fitness writer, I am the author of the Bluffer’s Guide to Fitness.
I am also a Pn-1 certified nutrition coach, and I’ve coached many people to reach their weight and fitness goals.
My philosophy is that firstly, people shouldn’t need to go on a diet to lose weight – especially not a crash diet or fad diet. These diets are often expensive, overly restrictive, impractical, and – in many cases – don’t even work.
I also believe that the vast majority of people shouldn’t need to count calories to lose weight and stay fit.
Calorie counting has its place, sure. Particularly if you are aiming for specific aesthetic or athletic goals. But it just tends to be too confusing, frustrating, and time-consuming for most people to do consistently.
Luckily, calorie counting is unnecessary if you just want to lose a bit of weight or feel a bit healthier!
What is your health philosophy?
Small habits, done consistently.
It’s that simple. But incredibly effective.
When we shift the focus to habits, life becomes much easier.
You don’t have to weigh your food, avoid your favourite restaurants, or spend hours on the treadmill.
Instead, you make small changes and – over time – these build up to a very healthy lifestyle.
The best part is that, by making them habits, you don’t ‘fall off the wagon’ or feel like ‘diet starts Monday’. These things are just part of your being. And it’s so much easier.
Why are you traveling the world 🌍 in search of nutrition and fitness traditions?
Why bother go around the world?
It’s certainly easier to stay at home isn’t it?
Well, in countries like the United Kingdom and the United States, we have some habits that are… not particularly supportive of staying lean, healthy, and happy.
I’m sure you can guess some of these!
So I want to visit other countries to see what we can learn from them, and then share these with you.
For example, in the very first episode of the podcast, I virtually visit France.
The French know how to eat well, so I head there to look at one particular habit that is conducive to weight loss. As well as learn about this habit, I then offer some practical advice on how to implement them into daily life.
With almost 200 countries on the planet, you suddenly realise how many habits, cultures and traditions we can learn from.
Anything else?
While I will be discussing global habits, I will also share some universal advice that transcends every country.
And that’s all for now. Take a look around, read some articles, and don’t forget to listen to the podcast!
