Firstly… who are you?

Hello, I’m you’re editor: Chris Carra – a culture and wellbeing writer from the UK.

I’ve written about culture and wellbeing for publications including Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Smithsonian Magazine, Italy Magazine, Vegan Food & Living, Metro and more. I’m the author of the Bluffer’s Guide to Fitness.

In previous years I was a Pn-1 certified nutrition coach, and coached many people to reach their weight and fitness goals. However, these days I write more than I coach.

What is your health philosophy?

My philosophy is that people do not need to go on a diet to lose weight. Especially not a crash diet or fad diet. These diets are often expensive, overly restrictive, impractical, and – in many cases – don’t even work.

I also believe that the vast majority of people do not need to count calories to lose weight and stay fit. Calorie counting has its place, sure. Particularly if you are aiming for specific aesthetic or athletic goals.

But it just tends to be too confusing, frustrating, and time-consuming for most people to do consistently.

Luckily, calorie counting is unnecessary if you just want to lose a bit of weight or feel a bit healthier!

So what is my philosophy?

Small habits, done consistently.

It’s that simple. But incredibly effective.

When we shift the focus to habits, life becomes much easier.

You don’t have to weigh your food, avoid your favourite restaurants, or spend hours on the treadmill.

Instead, you make small changes and – over time – these build up to a very healthy lifestyle.

The best part is that, by making them habits, you don’t ‘fall off the wagon’ or feel like ‘diet starts Monday’.

These things are just part of your being. And then it’s so much easier.

Why are you traveling the world in search of nutrition and fitness traditions?

Why bother go around the world?

Well, in countries like the United Kingdom and the United States, we have some habits that are… not particularly supportive of staying lean, healthy, and happy.

So I want to visit other countries to see what we can learn from them, and then share these with you.

For example, in one article, I look at the French habit of eating slowly as a remedy to eating too quickly. We also look at the Italian culture of walking after dinner to maintain a healthy weight and digestion.

With almost 200 countries on the planet, you suddenly realise how many habits, cultures and traditions we can learn from.

Anything else?

In addition to discussing global habits, I also share some universal advice that transcends every country.

I’m also interested in vegan living, so I’ve written articles about being plant-based on a budget and a few vegan city guides.

Additionally, I’ve written a few product and workout reviews, for the things that interest me and may be helpful for you.

About Chris

Chris Carra is a PN1-Certified Nutrition Coach, fitness writer, and author. In 2018, he wrote The Bluffer’s Guide to Fitness, which was part of the 5-million-copy bestselling British book series.

As a nutrition coach, he coaches for deep health and weight loss, with no need for rigidity and restriction.
