Vegan Food Las Vegas

Vegan Food Las Vegas: A City Guide

Sat at the roulette table, raking in the winnings, and hunger suddenly hits. Quick, where do you find good vegan food in Las Vegas?!

This describes me earlier this year (well, aside from winning anything 🤷‍♂️).

In February, I spent five nights in the city and ate very well throughout my stay. This was largely because I planned ahead and had already pinpointed the best vegan restaurants in Las Vegas.

And now, because you’re reading this article, you can look forward to some epic eating in Sin City too.

Is Las Vegas good for vegan food?

Generally, yes.

For a relatively small city, you’ll find plenty of fully vegan establishments serving a wide range of cuisines, from Chinese to Mexican.

On top of this, some omnivorous restaurants both on and around the Strip offer surprisingly good vegan choices, or entirely vegan menus (Nacho Daddy was one of these, see below).

However, like many American cities, you can’t expect to walk into any old restaurant and find a great plant-based selection. The US is still very meat and dairy centric, and some places we visited offered little more than a green salad and fries for vegans.

Needless to say, we didn’t stay in these places.

My advice to anyone travelling as a vegan, whether in Vegas or Vietnam, is to plan ahead. You’ll enjoy yourself a lot more if you map out where you want to eat in advance.

What are the best vegan restaurants in Las Vegas?

With the preamble complete, let’s move onto the fun!

We indulged in a handful of fully vegan restaurants and one omnivorous place, while there are a few that we didn’t get to sample. I’ve listed them below.

Modern Vegan

The Modern Vegan, Food in Las Vegas

What can I say about The Modern Vegan… it was absolutely incredible.

If you’re looking for the best vegan restaurants in Las Vegas, look no further. Seriously, we went twice because it was that good.

The menu is extensive; packed with classic American and Mexican dishes that rival any non-vegan version. Think skillets, burgers, waffles, sandwiches, wraps, desserts, and a lot more.

Vegan Mac n' Cheese

Between the two of us over two visits we ordered the breakfast burrito, the BBQ brisket mac ‘n’ cheese (photo above), and the Louisiana fried chick’n. Delicious.

However, the best dish either of us had was the vegan crabcake benedict (pictured below). I believe they used heart of palm for an authentic crab texture, while the Hollandaise sauce, mashed potatoes and English muffins came together for a divine brunch meal.

It was so big, we took half of it back to the hotel!

On that note, the portions were generally huge. More than enough for fueling up for a day in the desert city.

Any negatives? I guess that the prices were pretty hefty – around $23-30 per meal. However, you pay for quality, while Vegas is expensive generally, so it’s what we expected.

Also, note that the restaurant isn’t in the nicest area. It’s not worth walking from the Strip, so definitely drive or get an Uber (a journey of around 10 minutes).

Chef Kenny’s Vegan Dim Sum

Chef Kenny Vegan Restaurant Las Vegas

We went for an evening meal at Chef Kenny’s Vegan Dim Sum after reading good reviews.

Set on W Flamingo Road, around 10 to 15 minutes drive from the Strip, this is a lovely all-vegan Japanese restaurant.

Expect sushi, dim sum, noodles, and a range of Japanese dishes (and a few Cantonese dishes, unless I’m mistaken).

Chef Kenny Vegan Dim Sum

We opted for some ‘prawn’ dim sum to start. Before I went vegan I used to love dim sum, so it was fun to try these gooey dumplings.

For our main meals, we had salt and pepper shrimp (👌) and orange chicken, and a little rice to share. It really hit the spot.

Service was friendly and it all took place in a warm and pleasant atmosphere. I’d have liked to linger a little, but we had tickets to the neon sign boneyard, so had to dash.

Whether you’re looking for vegan or vegetarian food in Vegas, Chef Kenny’s is a must-try.

NoButcher

NoButcher Vegas Deli

We visited NoButcher for a quick lunch on the way back from a hiking day trip in Utah. Needless to say we were starving on arrival.

Set just off the road on S Rainbow Blvd, this family business is around 20 minutes drive from the Strip, but well worth the journey.

This completely plant-based deli and drive-thru offers truly beautiful sandwiches, including Pulled NoPork, The Greek, and the Aloha NoRib sandwich. You can check out their full menu here.

You can also buy deli meats and salads to take away (poorly photographed, above). This was the place that made me wish I lived in Vegas. 🤤

I believe I chose the NoRib sandwich, which hit the spot after a long morning of walking in the sun. This came with a tub of potato salad and a cookie as part of a meal deal (my girlfriend demolished the cookie).

While the setting is pretty basic, the food alone makes it worth a visit or two if you’re in Vegas.

Nacho Daddy

The places above have all been around 10 to 20 minutes drive from the Strip, but Nacho Daddy is bang in the centre of the action (around two minutes walk from Planet Hollywood, among the Miracle Mile stores).

Besides its amusing name, Nacho Daddy is an omnivorous restaurant with an extensive dedicated vegan menu.

Vegan Chimichanga at Nacho Daddy on the Strip

I went for the chick’n chimichanga (above), which was super stuffed and topped with a generous dollop of guacamole. My partner chose the chick’n quesadillas, which gave me food envy – and I managed to steal a few bites. Perfect.

Quesadilla at Nacho Daddy

The restaurant has that classic American sports bar vibe, with wooden fixtures, loads of screens, and energetic music. The waitress seemed a little bored, but, with food this good, I can overlook tepid service.

We found out about this place on our last day, so only had the opportunity to visit once, otherwise I’d have eaten there a few times. A must for your growing list of Las Vegas vegan food joints.

Tacotarian Las Vegas

Finally, we come to a highly-rated restaurant that I didn’t actually get to try this time round. I’m really annoyed about that – we just didn’t have time to visit it. 🌮

Tacotarian in Las Vegas is among the most popular and, looking at photos and reviews, you can see why.

This is an entirely plant-based Mexican restaurant around 12 minutes drive from the Strip on S Casino Center Blvd.

Their menu is eye-wateringly good. Tacos are the specialty and they offer the largest selection of vegan tacos in the USA, with a huge selection of fillings. (The photo below is one taken from their website for illustrative purposes).

You’ll also find classic Mexican dishes from enchiladas and burritos to quesadillas.

Seriously, as I write this, I’m getting more annoyed that I didn’t visit. Next time, Tacotarian… next time. 🥹

The final word on vegan food Las Vegas

Finding good vegan food in Vegas really isn’t that difficult, providing you plan ahead and are willing to drive (or grab an Uber).

It’s some of the most filling and decadent plant-based eating I’ve ever done. But after a light walk and a quick power nap, I was always ready to hit the Strip and lose the rest of my money.

If there’s a cool vegan place in Vegas that I’ve overlooked, please let me know and I’ll include it in a refresh of this article.
